Mettja Kuna
Founder + Principal GIS Consultant
After earning a degree in Environmental Studies from UCSB, Mettja pursued graduate studies in Geography at SDSU, completing her Master’s coursework and conducting extensive research on hydrological modeling of nitrate concentrations in Rainbow, CA. She began her GIS career as a GIS Coordinator for a small environmental consulting firm before moving to the City of San Marcos, CA, where she built their GIS program from the ground up. Over eight years, she developed their Enterprise GIS and played a key role in expanding the city's geospatial capabilities.
Seeking greater flexibility after starting a family, Mettja shifted to consulting, supporting the EPA with geospatial technical writing. This experience led her to independent GIS consulting, working with environmental firms, municipalities, and counties. Now, with over 20 years in the industry, she brings a wealth of expertise in GIS, cartographic mapping, and technical solutions through Jido Geospatial.
